a) This is the type of sushi that one can eat in Holland and Belgium – Herring. It is eaten with chopped onion and is a bit salty. I love to eat this sushi very much as it is very delicious.

The fish above had a cute little Dutch flag on the toothpick which told me that the Dutch are proud of this appetiser :).

Whenever I have the chance, I will always eat it when I spot one in the shop or the weekend market in Antwerp. Highly recommended!

b)This was a small Japanese sushi stall found in Amsterdam’s weekend market. The chef was Japanese. Looking at the price of it, I did not think it was expensive so I bought some to try.

Sushi is very expensive in Europe. I remembered having sushi in a food court in Sweden. 11 pcs of those normal small sushi cost € 18.00 = SGD 32.40 a few years ago and a palette of sushi in Antwerp (can’t remember the exact quantity. Maybe about 25 pcs) for 2 pax cost € 50.00 = SGD 87.50!

So I know how lucky I am to be able to eat much more sushi in Singapore at half the price in Europe.

c) Can’t remember what happened but I think I looked comical and greedy in the photo. Stopping by for some food in a café in Amsterdam.

a) Picnic in Antwerp City Park with my favourite cherry beer – Lindemans. Though I do not drink beer generally, I’ll never reject cherry beer because it is sweet and tastes like cherry (of course).

b) The once again food satisfaction of having that favourite fresh Herring sushi in the weekend market.

c) What you see is a weekend market displaying an array of olives. Containers of coloured olives are displayed on the top shelf for customers to try.

My eyes are dazzled with the assortment of 30 plus types of olives that I can try. I was lost just trying a few deciding which was the best to buy.

There are also a lot of olives in France too. The only difference is that the olives in Belgium seem to be saltier than the olives in France. I personally prefer the olives in France because since they are less salty, they are kinder or less stinging to my tastebuds.

e) I guess I didn’t buy the waffle in Brussels. When I returned back to Antwerp Central Station on the same day, I salivated at the sight of the waffles selling in the train station. I had bought the waffles 6 months ago from the same stall, they were very delicious and I still remembered.

I decided to buy 2 waffles this time – one with white chocolate and the other was likely chocolate or honey or plain though I can’t see the colours of the waffles from the photo and I cannot remember.

I ate them concurrently at the same time. Hehe. That just showed how greedy I was from the usual method of eating. That would allow me better to compare the taste of the two waffles at the same time before my taste bud was completely satiated by finishing one at a time. I was a very happy girl devouring two waffles this way. Hehe.

I was hungry at night and resorted to eating some cereal to curb the hunger. It is always necessary to standby some bite-sized food when one is hungry anytime

This is a € 35 euro Airbnb entire apartment rented in the Montmartre area in Paris. This is a small studio typically in Paris and the bed is built on top of the toilet. The cooking area is just beside the toilet with a size of approximately 1.5m – 2m square.
